Ok, here is a really dodgy picture of all of the non-member items that can be danced with. The red = dances, so you have to dance with them on to make it work, and the blue = waves, so you must wave for it to work.
Wow, those are all the non-member dance items!! That’s not many, is it?! Hehe.

Firstly, you have to wait until you have around 95+ buddies. (It works well with 99). Then you have to ask heaps of people to be your buddy, whether you really want to add them or not. Do not click the envelopes up the top of your screen that say if the buddies have accepted your invitation or not. Then have a look at your account to see how many buddies you have (click the little question mark on the chat bar, at the bottom of your screen). If most of the penguins you asked to be your buddy say “yes” you should have over 100 buddies.

To be honest, I haven’t tried this trick myself, so if there are any steps to this cheat that I have missed, please let me know.
Does not work anymore.
You can look after your puffle all over Club Penguin! Just click your puffle’s “player card” (lol what else do you call it?!) and click the map. Go to wherever you want and you can still see your puffle!

On the Official Club Penguin Blog, it had some rules about where pins are hidden, so I’ve summarised them for you:
Rule 1: If we’ve hidden a pin in a room, we won’t hide another pin in that room for at least two months. So, for instance, the Anchor is hidden in the Cove, so we won’t hide another pin there until at least May. Also, when it is hidden in the same room, it won’t be in the same place twice. The next time a pin comes to the Cove, we’re not going to hide it on the log by the bonfire.
Rule 2: We won’t hide a pin in the Town Center. That room is the busiest room in Club Penguin. We also won’t hide a pin in the HQ. Not all penguins are agents, so they wouldn’t get to go there. Also, it won’t be hidden on Rockhopper’s Ship. Rockhopper doesn’t usually stay for two weeks, and we don’t want him to leave with the pin!
Rule 3: Pins usually look like something related to a recent update. The Anchor was related to Rockhopper’s ship, the butterfly was to do with Camp Penguin, etc.
If you’re still having trouble finding the pin, look at these ideas to help you find it:
